The Land of Eylon is a good series for anyone older than 8 years old. Some parts can be violent, scary, dark, or mean. Make sure that your child is mature enough. there are several deaths, which most will make you sad, as if it were a family member close to you. One of the deaths put me to tears!! So just make sure you check them before you give them to your child, if they're younger than 8.
